Draw a Line in the Sand and Then Cross It!

“Nope………..I ain’t doin it!”

I’m sure that this statement, although maybe not using those exact words, has danced across your lips at one moment or another. Let’s be honest, coming out of our comfort zone is easy. We struggle with what-ifs and fears simply because we want to try something we haven’t done before. Well, I can say that I have done it! I drew a line in the sand and I jumped right over it. That’s what today’s post is about………..the why, how and what’s next after doing that thing that scares you.

I’m going to discuss launching my first live event, the Love My Voice Tour” which kicked off in Delaware in April 2018. (You can still get access to the replay here ~ Love My Voice Tour Replay by choosing the live stream option) The feedback was amazing and the experience will forever be engrained in mind. That being said………I almost didn’t do it. A few weeks before the date I told my team that I wasn’t going to do it. WOW, right? So much would have been missed including my business coach making a surprise appearance.

  1. WHY

Recently I launched my first ever tour and it scared the heck out of me. As an introverted mompreneur, I realize that this is a step towards building the foundation for my business. That didn’t make it any easier tho. I went back and forth with if I was going to go for it or not and that is when it hit me…………..I was creating more fear by not moving. More questions swirled in my mind the longer I stayed still but that dissipated once I took action.

As an Empowerment Speaker, you have one of two options. Either you speak at other people’s events or you speak at your own. Now don’t get me wrong, I receive numerous opportunities to speak but they don’t always fit me. (I’ve even had to turn a few down recently) That leaves me creating the event that I wish was available for me……the introverted mompreneur.

2. How

I am an introvert so you know that means I do my research baby! Lol I’ve been to events, spoken at events and emceed events so it was a matter of crafting what was already being done into my own thang. Easy right? Uh, nah! Do you know how many things are WRONG about the current empowerment event model??? Loads!!!! I couldn’t possibly tackle it all…….unless I only did events, sleep and eat. Lol (Which doesn’t sound too bad……..well at least the eating and sleeping part)

That meant I had to start at square one. What do you want your audience to walk away with??? The answer to that question had to include physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Definitely not a two cent answer. So I wrote it all out. ERRTHANG I wish people knew that a introverted mompreneur needed at an event.

3. What’s Next?

Well………I launched the event! Scared as heck, flaws and all……I jumped over the line. What happened next brought many tears to my eyes. Women showed, networked, gave me amazing feedback and my business coach Dawniel Winningham showed up and surprised me. ☺️ My clients surprised me with a special awards event that they were putting together in my honor. I mean……it went well beyond my expectations.

I’m still grinning from ear to ear as we prepare for the remaining five cities. I still hit a few snags on the journey but I’m moving. I’m a strong believer that my imperfect action will always beat your perfect inactivity. Expect that this is only the beginning and maybe I’ll see you at one of the future Love My Voice Tour stops or Award Shows. 👏🏾

I double dare you to take action today! Go outside your comfort zone and launch IT……no matter what IT may be!
