Free Internet Connectivity to every student to cater Online Education
Gargi Memorial Institute of Technology (GMIT), one of the top private engineering colleges in Kolkata, West Bengal under JIS Group announced Free Internet connectivity or recharge every month for every students of GMIT for hassle free online education and also distributed 10 laptops to financially backward students today at the celebration of its 10 years journey. This facility will not only cater the students who stays in urban area but will also take care of the students who stays in the remote area. Door to Door Library facility for every student situated in any corner of West Bengal was also announced. To make the celebration remarkable a tree plantation campaign of 10,000 trees was also declared. The event was graced by Shri Biman Banerjee, Speaker of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, Shri Manas Dhar, Managing Director, West Bengal Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation Limited along with Sardar Taranjit Singh, Managing Director, JIS Group, Mr. Bodhisattva Banerjee, Vice Chairman, GMIT, Dr. G.L. Dutta, Chairman, GMIT and others.

GMIT currently offers courses in five disciplines namely Civil Engineering (CE), Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME) and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). GMIT is approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), previously known as West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT). The journey from class based teaching process to digital education has not been a smooth journey and internet facility is a major issue for the students who are mainly from remote areas. The main objective of providing such facilities to the students is to offer them a hassle free educational journey.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bodhisattva Banerjee, Vice Chairman, GMIT said “The ongoing pandemic has had made a devastating impact on the students. Where the other industries are suffering, students are also facing several hurdles because of the pandemic. We believe in helping them to grow more, that is why today at this special occasion we have handed over 10 laptops and also initiated free internet service for the students to have hassle free digital education. We will also provide Door to Door Library Facility for the students, so that there would be no difficulty for them. The students can easily avail all these facilities from any parts of West Bengal.”
